Bosnia and Herzegovina: attitudes, interests and efforts of Croats and Serbs

The main goal of this thesis is to study the attitudes, interests and efforts of Croats and Serbs regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina. The research is specialized on the attitudes, interests and efforts of both nations in the issue of the Dayton Agreement and the Srebrenica events. The second focus of the work is the analysis of presenting and informing the Croatian and Serbian media about the mentioned issue in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Critical discourse analysis will be used as a research method. The research shows that the Croats seek a change in the Dayton Agreement and the Serbs deny the genocide committed in Srebrenica.

Bosnian diaspora through the eyes of Sarajevans - perceptions of emigration and stereotypes

The master's thesis entitled "Bosnian diaspora through the eyes of Sarajevans - perceptions of emigration and stereotypes" brings a closer view of the Bosnian diaspora and public opinion about it from the perspective of Sarajevans. It represents a socio-psychological qualitative research based on the analysis of 18 semi-structured interviews with the inhabitants of Sarajevo. Using existing theoretical concepts, the primary goal is to explore and list the most widespread stereotypes about the Bosnian diaspora, regardless of whether they are war refugees or economic emigrants. The thesis also represents an attempt to identify the main reasons for their existence and maintenance and looks for possible proposals for their elimination. Whether the departure is legitimate in the eyes of Sarajevans, whether the diaspora lives better, how it was affected by life in the "West" and to what extent Sarajevans are aware of the diaspora's potential and benefits for Bosnia and Herzegovina are some of the questions this thesis seeks to answer. The political and ethnic dimension of the diaspora is not the subject of research, as cultural stereotypes about the Bosnian diaspora do not distinguish between different ethnicities. Abstract The thesis aims to analyze the development of Turkey's foreign policy towards Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2009, with a focus on the reciprocity between neo-Ottomanism and pragmatism. This will be presented following the political, cultural, and economic role of Turkey in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The main argument of the thesis is that there has been a shift from a values-based approach towards a more pragmatic orientation in Turkey's relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The thesis aims to answer the research question of to what extent has this shift had any impact on its relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2009. The findings indicate that Turkey's foreign policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina can be seen as a blend of both neo- Ottoman and pragmatic elements, depending on Turkey's activity in the country, but in recent years pragmatism prevails. In spite of that, pragmatism didn't negatively affect the positive and close relations between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina but it further strengthened the ties between these countries. Marketing planning in a construction company

The thesis deals with the issue of marketing planning in a construction company. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the problem of marketing planning in the construction industry. It describes the construction market, marketing mix, analysis of micro and macro environment, international marketing and application of marketing plan in a construction company. The practical part of the thesis consists of two parts. The first part contains an analysis of the public procurement laws in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Czech Republic. The second part describes a specific construction company. On the basis of the individual analyses, a marketing plan is prepared for the company XYZ, which plans to expand its scope of activity to the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim of the thesis was to analyze and describe how marketing planning affects the participation of a construction firm in public procurement. The output of the thesis is the definition of a marketing plan proposal for a specific construction firm based on the identified state of this firm and the environment.

Women's peacebuilding civil society organisations and empowerment: A case Study of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Women are underrepresented in politics and rarely included in official peace processes, therefore, they often mobilise in civil society. Moreover, the political empowerment of women continues to be understudied. The thesis looks into how women's peacebuilding civil society organisations engage in the political empowerment of women. To finds answers to the research question, five women's peacebuilding civil society organisations based in Bosnia and Herzegovina were analysed through a conceptual framework of political empowerment. The organisations share the ideas of pacifism and gender equality. The research concludes that they engage in all dimensions of the conceptual framework but most significantly aim at increasing women's agency. The organisations provide women with a safe space to use their voices, share experiences, and create momentum. All the studied organisations fight gender-based violence and provide legal assistance to women. Membership in different networks and initiatives was identified as an important asset. The activities aiming at political empowerment and not directly stating the objective of peacebuilding can be perceived as such due to the positive link between gender equality and sustainable peace.

A Common Legacy, Divergent Paths: Understanding the Transformation of Post-Yugoslav Welfare States

Four countries that had once been embedded in a common welfare state, the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, have espoused different paths of institutional welfare transformation following Yugoslavia's dissolution. The author's PhD dissertation aims to understand the nature of the changes that have occurred in two welfare sectors (employment policy and family policy) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia and Serbia, over the last two decades, by looking at changes in the characteristics of welfare programs and their implications on the capabilities of beneficiaries, as well as the levels of stratification they yield within these societies. Moreover, its other aim is to understand why such differences in welfare transformation came about. To that end, the dissertation applies Kingdon's Multiple Streams Framework (MSF) to identify important conditions that have contributed to streams converging and the opening of policy windows that resulted in agenda change.

Normative power as a Source of EU Peacebuilding: Diffusion of Normative Power Europe in the Western Balkans

This thesis aims to interconnect a theory of normative power Europe with the activities of the EU and its affect on the Western Balkans. The theoretical concept of normative power is based on the assumption of the EU as a normative actor who is able through its norms, values and principles to become a major civilian actor in international relations, especially in the area of conflict management. The theoretical part of the paper therefore focuses on the concept of normative power EU (NPE) as it is presented by Ian Manners, and how its normative character is reflected in the common security and defense policy. It is analysed how the NPE is diffused in selected countries of the Western Balkans through four chosen transfer mechanisms by Manners that comprise the operationalization of the thesis at the same time. Therefore the aim of this work is to contribute to the further broadening the debate over the EU's role in the international system, but also to find out how the norms and values are transmitted in selected countries of the near neighborhood - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Kosovo.
